I bought this book for my daughter as it is easy to understand and is perfect for her as a beginner. This reputation is well deserved. For any player who means to take the game seriously and wants to play well, Backgammon is an indispensable guide. Many other basic and some not so basic backgammon concepts are explained.

The instruction is well written and well explained in a thoughtful manner. Magriel is a skillful instructor and lucid writer. No trivia or quizzes yet. Paul was also the backgammon columnist for The New York Times and has won more major backgammon mabriel than any other player. It has already improved my skills and enjoyment. He is not trying to be entertaining, but rather informative without being dry.
